Port Hedland Exports Down 14 Per Cent In April

Port Hedland, used by BHP Billiton Ltd. and Fortescue Metals Group Ltd. to ship iron ore from Australia, said exports fell 14 percent in April.

Shipments were 11.3 million metric tons in April, down from 13.1 million tons in March, according to the port’s Web site. That compares with 10.6 million tons in April last year.

There were 67 vessels arrived at the port in April, compared with 78 in March, it said.
