One of the main shareholders in the Kazakh mining and metals group, ENRC, said on Friday that some of its units had more than halved their output due to falling demand.
This came in a briefing from the shareholder, Alexander Mashkevich, to Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev on his company's performance the President's press service said in a statement.
"Due to the global economic crisis, output at some of our units has fallen 50 to 60 percent," the statement quoted Mashkevich as saying, adding that ENRC would not sack workers at those units.
