Hernic Waits Before Output Decision

Hernic Ferrochrome, which shut all four of its furnaces from January but reopened two later, is waiting for metal prices to rise before deciding to increase output even as demand improves.

Brits-based Hernic was operating at 60 percent capacity, Jasper Pieters, the operations director at the fourth-biggest producer of the steel ingredient, said yesterday.

"Prices are still very low and we have therefore not made a final decision to further increase our production," he said.
