China's Copper Imports Up 25 Per Cent Over A Year Ago

China’s copper imports rose by 25 per cent in January compared to the same month last year, although they were 21 per cent down on December’s import figure.

Customs officials announced that imports of copper and products were 292,096 metric tons last month.

Analysts still expect imports to halve to between 1.5 and 1.6 million tons for the year.

Imported of scrap copper were 340,000 tons of scrap copper in January compared with 444,344 tons in December. Imports of aluminium and products were 97,633 tons last month, compared with 117,020 tons a month ago.
