A total of 1,100 workers will be cut from BHP’s coking coal operations in Queensland state. Production increased 5 percent in the second quarter to 10.2 million tons, the company said in separate statement, but it expects demand to be weaker during this half, resulting in a drop in full-year sales.
It expects to cut coking coal output by as much as 15 percent.
