Kenya Fluorspar, has announced that the Firebird Global Master Fund Limited, the Cayman Islands-based equity fund, has made a significant minority investment in the company. The deal was concluded on December 31 2008 though the size of the stake has not been disclosed.
Firebird is managed by FG2 Advisors LLC, a member of the American-based Firebird Investment management group, that focuses on investments in global emerging markets particularly in mining and natural resources.
“We are delighted to make investment into Kenya Fluorspar. We have positive view of the investment climate in Kenya,” said Firebird managing director, James Passin.
“The strategic investment by an expert in global mining attests to the success of the efforts of the company to continually improve the operations of the mine, ” said Kenya Fluorspar chairman, Charles Field Masham.
