Coal shipments from Newcastle port in Australia rose 1.7 percent last week. The port authority announced that the volume exported in the week ended 7 a.m. yesterday was 1.88 million metric tonnes, up from 1.85 million tonnes in the previous week.,
Meanwhile, the number of ships waiting outside the harbour decreased to 46 from 48 the week before. These ships were ready to load 3.54 million tons of coal. The queue stood at 60 in December. Ships waited an average of 15.62 days to load.
