India's state-run National Aluminium Co. Ltd. has floated a tender to purchase 150,000 metric tons of imported non-coking coal, a notice on the company's Web site said.
"Our requirement of the coal is extremely urgent," the notice said.
The coal should be dispatched from the port of discharge within 45 days of the order being placed.
The coal will be for the company's captive power plant in Angul in the eastern state of Orissa, the company said late Monday.
Last date for submitting bids is April 2.
Last year, the company's production had been hit due to low supply of coal at its power plant following a strike by truckers.
