Russian copper miner UMMC is seeking to acquire Chelyabinsk Zinc from pipe maker CHTPZ, a department head at the Federal Anti-monopoly Service (FAS), which must approve the buy, said on Wednesday.
"We have received the bid from UMMC," the head of the industrials department of the anti-trust watchdog, Alexei Ulyanov, told Reuters.
A source close to another Russian copper miner, RMK, said that RMK may become a co-investor in this deal. The source said the acquisition would be of 58 percent of Chelyabinsk Zinc.
