Equinox Minerals' chief executive said on Sunday that the company's Lumwana copper mine in Zambia is ramping up on pace. Craig Williams told Reuters in an interview on the sidelines of the Prospectors and Developers conference in Toronto, that the mine was on pace to produce 170,000 tonnes of copper this year, and could exceed that amount in 2010. "The challenge is that the mill is going so well it's a challenge to the mining team to keep it fed," he said.
Mr Williams also said that the company is on the lookout to buy copper properties made cheap by the global economic downturn.
