Calcium Carbide Producers Facing Environmental Crackdown

Calcium Carbide producers in Kaifeng City in China’s Henan province, are among those affected under plans by the city’s Environment Protection Office in Kaifeng City in China, to control pollution. Producers of ferroalloys and corundum industries will be similarly affected.

The local government is to set specified measures, targets and deadlines for each company based on the province’s Technology Standards of Pollution Control.

Projects without environment approval will need to obtain licences and while projects forbidden by the national government face the prospect of demolition. Those projects, which are in accord with the national policies and do have environmental protection licenses, yet fail to meet the requirement for total amount control of pollutions, will be given a time limit to correct their environmental procedures.
