Rohit Ferro To Build New Ferroalloy Plant

There are reports that India’s Rohit Ferro Tech has bought 40 acres of land at Haldia from the Haldia Development Authority to set up a ferroalloy plant in the region.

Rohit Ferro is proposing to build six 9 MVA furnaces with a product mix of silicomanganese, ferromanganese and ferrosilicon. A manganese ore beneficiation plant and a sinter plant are also planned.

Haldia Development Authority will provide the adequate infrastructure while power will be supplied by West Bengal State Electricity Board with a 25% subsidy on net energy charges currently valid until March 2009 subject to further government extension.

Rohit Ferro produced approx 100,000 tonnes of ferroalloys in 2007 out of its total capacity of 180,000 tonnes per annum.
