Coal From Wongawilli Loaded For India

Gujarat NRE Coke Limited today said its first shipment of coking coal produced from its recently-acquired NRE Wongawilli colliery in Australia has been loaded for India.

"More than 20,000 tons of coal from the mine was loaded onto the bulk carrier Sea Urchin at Port Kembla's coal loader for India," the company said in a statement.

Once the coal arrives in India, it would be washed and prepared for steel industry at one of the company's three metallurgical coke plants where waste heat recovery processes are being established to generate electricity, improve profitability and earn carbon credits, said company's Vice Chairman and Managing Director Arun Kumar Jagatramka.
